Vogue For ME!!!

Have to say that I don't do Beauty Magazines because they make me feel bad;((( But for you I pick up a Vogue while waiting on the long line of shoppers to check out at the Wal-Mart! What I discovered about the Magazine is that there are tons of pictures of everything clothes, shoes, jewerly, and beautiful People everywhere!! We are such a spoiled society when it comes to visual expectations because we want everything to be just so and be pretty. I think the mass media as made us this way with all the pretty perfect pictures that they put in their magazines!!! I do enjoy all the new and different fashions because I love fashion so much it is one of my passions. Clothes are my friend I just love them and this magazine was full of all the things that me as a woman keeps me ticking. I guess if I could afford it and had time to read them that Vogue would definetly be something I would pick up at the register.

WKU is Smart!!!

Most colleges that aren't religious pretty much are all safe media they don't want to stir the pot I'm Sure!! Plus on top of all that they want to attract customers not keep them away thats why they keep it neutral a smart move if I say so myself!!! I'm sure their PR helped on that one LOL!! When browsing the WKU News their wasn't alot out of the ordinary pretty much just school news and events that are happening for the student. I think that it is just news you can use that tells you what is going and to get you interested in school happening. They are just keeping it lite and staying with the college news.

Can I Just Say I Hate You ADS!!!!

The thing that gets on my nerves more than anything else is Ads!!! Man they always take all the fun out of Television because it is like here's your dessert before dinner Oh hold on you have to take a bite of your Green Beans first LOL!!! Crazy Perspective I know but that is the way Commercials make me feel For Reals:))) I mean think about it you are just getting in to the story line of your show and all of a sudden BAM!!!!! Advertising Break BullS***!!! I'm I not paying for this Channel already why should I have to watch this crap or as I would say pay DOUBLE? I mean it is everywhere you can't even ride down the street without ADS they suck I think they are tacking and have the worst theme Songs EVER!!!! Which you would call Irriation Advertising LOL!!!! Which I would have to say it works because I have seen it first hand....in Radio and TV Commercial that is everywhere I have even seen it lately on peoples Facebook Statuses......Oh it's So Hot Don LOL!!!! Crazy I know but it sticks with you that much Oh Boy!!! The stupid Ads that I could remember from being a child would just explain the reasons why these People are still in the ad Business. Man the wasted memories that I so need on a Daily Bases LOL!!! At my age you know what I mean I could use that space for something useful.... But what can you do it is everywhere you can't escape it at all!!! I have to say they are shaping the who and the what is going to be for sure!!! They are so good at making the America Culture in to what it is today. For Example for all you Wine lover out there this is for you KISSES:)))) The Skinny Bitch Wine WTF is that about if you are a real wine drinker you aren't going to drink that crap you want the real thing!!! Oh Yeah:))))) Through it on ME!!! It was right at the register when you go to check out in my local town just saying what exactly are they trying to do to US!!! Like we don't get enough grief for our body image in other areas of the world!!! Ads aren't going anywhere even though we wish they would Sorry to deliver the bad NEWS but it is all about the Benjamin Baby commercial make that perfectly clear!

Got BOOKS??? They do a Brain Good!!!

Books are the beginning of everything with out them we would have Nothing!!! They are here are history comes from, where we learn from, they entertain us, and they are the oldest mass media their is. Books have had more effects on us then we probably know!! I think movies wouldn't be where they are today if it wasn't for books they have brought our imagination to life!! I'm not a big book reading because I don't have time to do a lot of reading but I have seen movies that are were books first and it made me want to read the book too!! My daughter loves to read she is really in to the Vampire Stuff that is really big right now. I think books will be around for a long time because people enjoy reading books and not just e-readers!! Like someone said to me that is a big book reader and refuses to buy an e-reader because she said that it makes it to inpersonal and that if you dont buy the book then how are you going to go to a book signing of your favorite author or book if you don't own the actually book!! Sounds kind of silly to me too and makes perfect sense to me. Books aren't going anywhere people enjoy getting paper books and having them on their shelf it shows their character and who they are!! So book companies don't have anything to worry about!! Books are here to stay for a long while;))))

Where Art Thou Magazines???

Magazines Oh the things I can say about YOU!!! # 1 I have a love, hate relationship with them!! # 2 I love reading all the tips (that I never use lol), looking at all the latest fashions (that I can't wear or afford to wear), and reading all the advise that they give it is Hilarious!! Besides all that it is like a between the show long nightmare that never ends. I mean that it is like commercial after commercial never a break besides the fact that it is on a page and you can just turn it!! Magazines sometimes are my worst nightmare because of all the skinny BLEEP in them lol!! It makes you think about wanting to look like that and Man face it you are never going to look that perfect..... I mean for goodness sakes they have been airbrushed after being photographed so that is a NO GO!! Anyways who needs any more media telling us that we look bad for REALS!! It is like everywhere you turn don't do this, don't eat that, don't wear this and don't do that enough with the perr pressure already we are just people trying to be ourselves!! So what I'am trying to say is Just Let ME do ME because I'm good at that and I will be the best ME I can be sorry to harp on that but it seems like every where we turn someone is busy telling US!!! That we aren't good enough until we have this or look like that or eat this or try that STUPID and these people are making bank....We are paying for this stuff for Real I can't believe it!! So let me get this straight we are paying for one more thing that is bad for US who knew!!! Don't get me wrong there are magazines out there that are awesome and are great for learning and those are the ones like teach said that are good for our brains that we are probably not reading because we are worried about other things. I think that magazines will be around for a little bite longer but soon we will be able to just download our favorites on our iPhones or computers that we can carry around with us. So just like everything else that has went to computers like books we have e-readers and stuff we will have e-magazines lol can I go ahead and copyright that?? I like reading magazines more than books because I know it is a quick read and I'am all about that!!

Newspaper's ~N~ Danger???

I hate to admit this but I don't read the newspaper unless one of my kids are in it, I'm looking for a job, looking to buy something or going to yard sales. I know I'm a bad girl LOL!! I wish I did have more time to actually sit down and read the newspaper but I dont. I think maybe that's why newspapers are going under or at least one reason a couple of others I think is our culture is going GREEN and man printing papers isn't exactly saving tree sorry for the bad humor...Anyways for real most people have apps on their phone that give them their news they need to know. When not on your phone on the computer I mean really how hard is it to just google the latest news NOT hard at all. You go to any major website like MSN, Yahoo, and AOL they do the work for you but that's not your local news. I would have to say that with all this other types of news it takes out the personal touch on events that are happening around you. Like for example our newspaper in my very small commuity reports on everything that is happening or is going to happen. I took my son the other day to a reading program at the library where they are trying to keep kids reading throughout the summer which I think is great because like they say "If you don't use it you lose it!!!" I had no idea that it was going to be in the paper but the next week sure enough the kids that attended had their picture taken and it was in the paper along with an article about the program. I think this is the kind of stuff that will go overlooked if we lose our newspapers. So in this case I feel that we still need our newspapers. I asked a couple of people how they felt about their newspaper and they said that for them the newspaper is a must! It is part of their daily routine, part of their culture, and plays a big role in a small town. It is a way to get the little voices out there heard. Don't get me wrong I might not read the paper but I think it is something that will be around for a long time we need it just to unplug ourselves from everything and listen to the small but important voices around us and get involved in your community and a newspaper can help you do that. Rock-On Newspapers and Where would we be without the Paper Boy!!!

Can we do Foreign Right??

I would have to say that I don't know all about foreign countries or their culture besides what I see on Tv, Movie's, and learn in school. I enjoy learning about different countries and their culture. I think sometimes as Americans we think our way is best but how do we really know? Is beause we are a Free country does that make our ways better than anyone elses? I think that we should always be open minded and up for learning about new different ways of life. A  movie for me that come to mind when thinking about american movie's that have foreign aspects in it I would have to say Eat, Pray, Love was a really good view on foreign culture and their life. I felt that this was a movie that didn't give the american perceptive it actually took it all in and I like that because for me you are learning, and being entertained. I do tend to see some american movies that do stereo type but not just for other countries they do it with different races and people in our own country so this is not something new. I think the movie industry is always trying to appeal to it's audience which are americans so you are going to see americanized view of what we think it's like out there!! I think alot of times in movies we always seem to be the smarter more advanced culture and everyone else is kind of behind the times. Which in alot of ways is true because we have all kinds of different culture in our country.

Not So Funny NEWS!!!

I have to say that I have never watched either of these shows and neither does anyone I know but just because I haven't watched them I decided to take a look. Not sure why these shows would even be concernered news shows but who am I to decide that. To me I thought of these shows as a destraction from the real world making fun of real topics that are in the news is not really my cup of tea! I think that is stupid and serves no perphaps and real news should. I guess you could say that maybe they try to be the lighter side of the news or see a little humor in this crazy would. I don't real care for comedy news I guess or maybe I'm to old to see the point of it! Don't get me wrong I like to laugh alot be not at real issues that are country are facing and make us look stupid when we make fun of our own political issue. I seen these shows as kind of for the younger people but don't think that it is good for them to just watch that as their news as teach says it is junk food to balance it out you need to watch  some good news for our brain that way instead of laughing at an issue maybe get involved or really make yourself think about it and maybe what you can individually do to make a difference. Personally I prefer local news stations that way you know what is going around you and for the more wide range news I watch The Today Show, Good Morning America, and because I really enjoy all different kinds of views and opinions I watch The View. Which I think gives some news topic a twist because you get all different kinds of opinions which makes you think differently and also understand where other people are coming from. I love news and love being in the know of what is going on but those shows like The Daily Show aren't really news you can use so watch it get a good laugh and take it with a grain of salt.

Excited about The News!!!

News is where it is at!! Always on the scene telling us the latest and the greatest. I love news because of the fact you are always are learning, investigating, and out on the streets meeting people. I interviewed my father-in-law because he is the most interesting person I know and he has lived a very full life and love the news.

 News has impacted his life in a lot of major ways!! In 1994, 95, 96, 97 He got his first experience with the news channels!! He found the oldest known sunken ship of the Western Hemisphere!! He thought to himself how he could share that with people!! He didn't go to college and is not an underwater archaeologist!!! So he came to the conclusion that he needed to do that with the news channels!! So he did just that and even all of the news channels got so excited!! They showed up at his house and his work severely!! Wanting the story!! So he did!! He thought it would only help!! Wow!! Did it!! Three of the news reporters he took down on the bottom of the river and they made video of the ship wreck and you could see that it was put together with wooden pegs!!!  Before steel was even invented!! Then from that event it went across the USA on the nightly news!! Then next he went to the University of South Carolina!!  They were just as amazed!! The sunken ship was from around 1630's and it excited the public to no end!! All because of the news channels!! He now watched all of the news channels because you never know what you can learn!! His attitude about news channel has changed greatly!! If you use the news channels properly they can be the best tool you ever used!!

The patterns were of great interest!! Because sunken ships have the great unknown possibility of things unknown!! Some of those wrecks have been there for 100's of years and not said a word until you find them and lay your hand up on them and they start talking again!! The kinds of experiences that stick out are that of amazement and wonder beyond belief!! Can you even imagine someone going under the water and finding a sunken ship that then all of a sudden gives you so many questions about what happen 400 years ago!!!

His kind of TV experiences that stick out are how so many people become amazed when they see it on the news channels!! He's had phone calls and letters from all over the world when they see this news!!

His news events where so, so exciting and were so interesting!! It brought wonder out of every person that he seen. It was amazing to say the least!! He watched it like magic turned on the public to the news for quite some time to see what was next with the sunken ship issues!! It shows that no doubt TV news was right there and got the real truth about unbelievable stories!!

 

He personally likes the traditional networks station because they seem to hit close to home area more!!! He likes cable because it hits the world news more!! He would still choose the traditional news channels over cable!!!    He would choose the Fox, MSNBC, CNN over printed news because the printed news only focuses on the local area most of the time!! You would have to get a newspaper from all over the USA to be brought up to date with the news!!  He has been on all types of news systems and personally got more inquirers from ABC, NBC, and CBS than any other news system!! If you have good honest news it all works great to your behalf!!

Your My Favorite Station EVER!!!

I Love all kinds of music but more than that I like modern music and music that gets me moving!!! So I always listen to HOT 96.1 out of Evansville, IN. LOVE IT!!! Atom Smasher Show changed my life and that is why I'm here today. I wouldn't be taking this class or majoring in Broadcasting if it wasn't for this station NO Joke... Before I go in to all the class stuff I have to tell you my story because it is really important to me!!! I'am 29 will be 30 soon;((( Drop out of High School when I was to young didn't know what the H*** I was doing. So anyways did all that so I could act like a young crazy person not much different now just more responsible and to many people are counting on me. So I decided at a young age that I wanted to play house and all that jazz let me tell you it isn't all it is cracked up to be!! Not saying that it is a bad thing it is just that saying if I knew then what I know now man I'd be RICH Lol!! Well maybe not rich but more successful person for sure.. So about two and a half years ago my last kid started school and I was stuck home all day by myself and I thought well what in the world am I going to do with my day now can only clean my house so much!! So I got a job at a college and it got me thinking I should get my GED just to show my kids that education is important. So I started going to the career center everyday after work and started studying to get it and to make a long story short within 4 months I had my GED well I was so excited and proud of myself that I thought maybe I could take a couple of college classes. So I looked into it and where I worked offer free classes to their employees after a year of being there so I thought well when my year is up I will start classes. Well in the mean time I would listen to The Atom Smasher Morning Show while at work and one day they were offering listener a chance to be co-hosts on the show. So I thought that would be fun and I wrote into the show telling them why I should be on the radio. Well to my surprise two weeks later I get a call from them and I got picked to be a co-host!! Man I was so scared and excited all at the same time and had no idea what to except so I went and fell in love with it!! From that point on I knew that was what I wanted to do for a job or something like that. The next month I quit my job and enrolled in the local commuity college and never looked back. So here I'am two years later just got my associates in communications and now a WKU college student two more years I will have a Bachelors in Broadcasting couldn't be happier!! I will be 32 years old and just starting in my career field how funny but I couldn't be more excited about it:)) So that is why I picked this Station they have it all great music, good shows and they are everywhere promoting their station. They are of course for the more younger group of people but they play the music I love!! I would have to say that the things they are missing are playing some of the older music and having a show that is maybe a little more informative for people who care like me who like hearing about the new and events around the world. I would like to even hear some of the topics brought up and have people call in and have open discussions about it. I'm a very open minded person and love giving my opinion and hearing others and then discussig their views and why they think like that. Like I said in my intro about me I Love People and want to learn about everyone I meet I think people are interesting and always want to learn more.

Music Labels ?????

I have to admit that I Love Music can sing every word to most songs but when it comes to talking about where it was made or where it comes from or who sings it I'm a Clueless Puppy!! I'm very Sorry!! But I did an interview with a local guy that is a bluegrass musician and also helps people record their own music.

One of our local bluegrass musicians is Randy Lanham. He currently teaches music as the Education Director at the International Bluegrass Music Museum and arts teacher at the River Park Center. He also does private lessons, records, and plays live shows with Wade Hayes.  Occasions fills in for Mel McDaniel and Randy Owens. He was born and raised in Knottsville, Kentucky and started playing the fiddle at the age of eleven. His grandfather John Lanham was the one that taught him how to play and got him interested in bluegrass. John would take him to fiddle competitions and any kind of bluegrass shows. He has played the fiddle for twenty eight years. Professionally he has been playing for the last seventeen years. He is a former Kentucky State Fiddle Champion. At the age of twenty he moved to Nashville, Tennessee. He started playing small jobs for about six months. Got his first big job working for recording artist Clay Walker, Wade Hayes, Tracey Lawrence and Tanya Tucker. While working with those artists he got to tour with George Strait, Brook & Dunn, Alan Jackson, and Faith Hill.  He has appeared on TV shows such as CMT, CNN, The Grand Ole Opry, The Tonight Show and Austin City Limits. In his professional background he has worked with MCA Recording Artist Marty Brown. He did shows with various artist including Vince Gill, Ricky Skaggs and Patty Loveless. Randy was in several music videos “Every Now and Then” and “It Must Be the Rain”. He played backup fiddle, back up vocal, and guitar. He worked at Gilley’s Nashville Night Club as a backup for various artists including Mickey Gilley and Johnny Lee. In 1994 and 95 he worked for Giant Records with Clay Walker.  He toured with Sawyar Brown/Diamond Rio and George Strait as backup fiddle. He was also in the videos for “Old Enough to Know Better”, “On a Good Night” and “Tore Up From The Floor Up” and also did a nationwide Radio Promotion Tour. He now offers talent development services for musicians, singers, bands, schools and educational organizations. He loves helping anyone who is interested in learning about music. I think this guy does great work and is always like to help anyone. He does have a label but definetly should some day.

Like this is Going to Happen These DAYS!!!!

12 Hours is really pushing it don't you think? I mean I can't even pay my bills without getting on a computer. I thought about it when I read the assignment and said there ain't no way this could happen SORRY!! I have a very busy life kids, school, friends, bills, money, and that is just some of the computer stuff. I haven't even went into my shows, my iPhone, and my DVR ain't no one going to take that away LOL! I couldn't live without those things sounds silly I know because at one point in my life I did but I'm a busy mom who has kids and is always on the go so there are times when I do business while I'm driving to get things done multi-tasking is what I call it and man I'm a PRO!! Don't get me wrong there are times when I would like to just throw my phone and TV out the window but that is a no can do. It is crazy anymore I think technology has made us busier because think about it? We can do more at the tip of a finger on our phone for goodness sakes which makes us have more time on our hands to fill up our day witth other things. Which this way is crap because then you never have time to really think or even try to get organized. I think it makes people except more out of you because technology has made things so easy!! I have to say that I really enjoy it because instead of having a day just to run around and pay bills I can get up and hop on the computer in my PJ's and pay my bills that is a beautiful thing! I can stay intouch with friends from High School that live 12 hours away and send my mom pictures of the kids if she misses something in that ascept you really can't bet it. If you think about technology has made our big world a small one. Which has it's up and down points and can be a little overwhelming. Sorry I could not do the 12 hours of no technology but maybe if I went camping then I think it would be easy or on vacation then I could definetly do but in the real world it won't happen. Technology Rocks and is here to stay!!

Who Knew Cookie were anything but Yumm-O;)))))

Hello Everyone ;))) So here we go "Cookies" so cookies to me before a couple of years a ago were just so dessert you ate! Had not a clue that it was something on my computer that was watch my every move when I surfed the WEB. It is scary to me to think about that man the data those cookie monsters must have stored up. Who would have guess that you can track your every move on the internet and then come up with ads that were in our interest. I never thought about cookies until about 8 years ago when I would get on the internet and it would take forever to get anywhere because of the stupid pop-ups. Let me not mention that I only had Dail Up how funny to look how far we have came it still amazes me to this day. So anyways back to the cookies that I learned about so time ago........I had no idea that these things were following me and at the time it was making my computer extremely slow because of all the ads I was getting because of the cookies. I eventually learned how to set my computer up to get rid of all this information that I didn't need on my computer. At the time I just thought that it was a cram someone was trying to run on me. Boy was I ever off they are just trying to get my business which is great technology hard at work at least I know all that money I pay to have internet and phone is going to good use they are reinvesting in me LOL!! So on my computer now I don't have to even worry about any of those things anymore because I have security system that blocks all pop ups and deletes my cookies automaticlly without me having to go to my internet setting and doing myself man technology is a great thing. My history is all kinds of things because I share my computer with about five other people in my house. So you never know what you might find but I would have to say that someone tracing my every move while on the internet is a little creepy. Not that I have anything to hide but if someone came to my house and starting going through all of my stuff like food and products I definetly wouldn't like it. Cookies to me are just another person trying to more some money. This is a capitalist country and you got to do what you got to do!! To try and get ahead in this world . So peeps cookie it up!!!
